In 2024, Google will phase out another Google app

Google Podcasts, as podcasts are being moved to YouTube Music. A web version and iOS app will be released in 2020 after Google Podcasts launched on Android in 2018.

Google has already planned to present a centralised podcast destination on YouTube  Music, where users can listen to and watch podcasts without paying a subscription fee. Background playback, offline downloading, and casting to smart speakers are already available for podcasts on YouTube Music in the US.

YouTube is the recommended podcast listening service for 23% of podcast listeners, while Google Podcasts is the preferred one for only 4% of podcast listeners. YouTube Music will eventually replace Google Podcasts, a process Google wants to run as smoothly as possible.
